Decision making task in which participants compare an offer with a set of alternatives with varying values and probabilities. Participants are given variable 'search horizons' i.e. attempts to get a new offer from the set of alternatives. In order to make optimal decisions participants need to reason prospectively, i.e. take into account future states. In other words, they need to plan a potential sequence of decisions.
