            Participants usually perform a choice reaction time in which they have to respond as quickly as possible to a particular stimulus feature (e.g. colour, shape, identity, or location). On a minority of the trials, the go stimulus is followed by an additional signal (e.g. an auditory tone or a visual cue), which instructs participants to withhold their planned response.
